Default Water Pump and Opti-Spark

Started out with an intermitent power steering problem. Thought I had a belt tensioner issue. As I dig deeper, looks like water pump leakingfrom weep hole onto belt, causing belt to slip ocassionally. Finally have water pump off. Do I need to change opti-spark while its staring me right in the face, before I go back on with new water pump?(110,000 miles)And if I do, how do I install properly. GM manual says bring #1 piston to TDC. Hows the best way to do this. Any other info would be appreciated. I really don't want to do this twice! Thanks Van Marshall 1997 Z-28 Camaro
