Default Electrical problem

A few days ago I tried to start my 95 z28 and when I turned the key to start it, there was a click and everything just died. I pulled the pcm ign fuse and put a new one in and when I turned the key everything turned on and when I tried to start it, the same thing happened so I put in another fuse and nothing came on. I swapped in another battery and nothing came on and when I put the old battery back in, the power came on but the same thing would happen again. What could be the cause of this problem?

A direct short to ground. You going to have to start looking at wiring harness for melted wires, frayed wires, cut wires that are touching metal. You could disconnect the wires from the starter to see if the fuse still blows when the key is turned to the start position. Make sure those wires do not touch any metal though because they are hot.

Glad you found it and it was an easy fix. I just assumed that since you said you swapped batteries, the battery connections was already addressed.
