Default 97 SS M6 Winter Build Opinions

Hey everyone,

I have decided to start down the road of modifying my recently acquired 97SS M6.

I've already done my cosmetic stuff like all LED's interior, Xenon white bulbs front & rear, diamond plate floor mats, brushed aluminum pedals, stainless sills, white-face gauges & tint, etc....

I ordered up some BFG 275/35/18 G-Force Tires & 18x9.5 Z06 Black Wheels. Will be here next week.

I just got my year end bonus & want to spend it on this build but I'm torn on which route I want to go between the 2 concepts below:

•383 Stroker approach with Heads/Cam & intake & headers through catless exhaust, tune, blah, blah, blah
•Forced Induction (turbo) with Heads/Cam & all the same other stuff.

This car is going to get full suspension treatment & a 12 bolt/ 9" rearend with 3.73's Posi & a clutch upgrade & any internal trans strengthening possible.

Stroker route would be a lot of fun but a lot bigger pain to do. I love turbos too as I have compounds on my Cummins.

Anyone want to recommend a reputable Stroker "kit" manufacturer? Turbo route would be 6-7psi max with intercooler.

This car will see very limited driving & is only a weekend cruiser.

Thanks in advance LT1 guys/gals!

I know they have a few Built 383s on KSL right now for $1200, but since it's your project I assume you want to build it yourself.

I know of a Few LT1s and LS1, here in Utah, that went with the STS Turbo Kit.

GMDCamaro..

Yes I definetely want to build it myself.. I road in one of the guys that works down there @STS with the 99 Trans Am.. He was running about 9psi & it was faster than hell with a whole lot turbo scream & the BOV was nasty loud in between gear changes.

I just dont want to do an STS though!

getting non-rear mounted turbos is alot of fabrication , due to the fact there isnt that much room to fit a turbo, so going with a rear is your best beat...but i would say go with the stroker.... 383+ t56= highway killer

compstar 383 rotating assembly
LE2 heads or AI 200cc heads with a cam specced for your goals
450+rwhp that is more reliable than a turbo
