if it starts that points to either the fuel pump or fuel pressure regulator goin.

Oh so this test is to see if my fuel pump is bad? Cause if it starts right up after a few primes, more gas has got to the engine that the fuel pump didn't get in the first place?

right the pump is on for 2 seconds to prime and if the pump is not working right it doesnt get up enough pressure to start the car. when you try to start it the pump will come on and after a few seconds it will get up the pressure needed. the pressure regulator is the same idea. if its open all the time the same thing happens. if you have a fuel pressure gage you can test to see whats going on. i used a clamp on the return line to find the pressure regulator was failing..gotta be careful on the plastic pipe, it cracks easy.
