94' Z28 LT1- Flat tappet lifters?
Does the LT1 in the 1994 Z28 have flat tappet, hydraulic lifters?
If it is a flat tappet, hydraulic lifter engine:
Has anyone else heard you should not use synthetics with flat tappet lifters?
Also does anyone use a zinc additive like GM -EOS when doing oil changes in this model engine?
Thanks,
Mike

1) The 94 LT1 engine uses hydraulic roller lifters
2) Synthetic lubricants work OK with both types of lifters. Zinc additives are helpful in the breaking in of flat lifter cams, but not necessary if the proper assembly lube is used during initial assembly, and proper break in procedures followed.

Thanks for responding,
I did not expect the '94 LT1 to have roller lifters. That's good to know, a bonus!
What I read was b/c flat tappet lifters have to spin some in order to draw oil into the surface area where the camshaft and lifter make direct contact standard oils were best. This piece said synthetics are basically too slippery and don't allow the lifters to spin on flat tappet hydaulic cams resulting in improper lubrication and thus premature wear.
Engines with roller lifters benfitted from synthetics.
Take it FWIW, I'm not trying to troll. If I can find the article again I'll post it.
