Default '94-'97 front brake upgrade questions.

hello everybody. as none of you know i'm building a "shouldn't exist anywhere in the universe" supercharged drag minivan. the base for this insain project is a '95 pontiac trans sport minivan. the Trans sport and it's siblings the Lumina APV and silloutte share a front braking system with the mighty '94-'97 Z-28.

now these brakes are no slouch, even in the 3500 lb minivan, however getting hard on the brakes after a 90+ jaunt can be an experience that tests one's faith. so was was curious what you folks have done to improve your braking systems in your cars, what if any rotor upgrades you have had good luck with, and what pads seem to work best for street driving with bi-weekly drag racing. what brands do you guys know to stay away from?

i'm eager to hear all of your opinions. i'll be around to answer any questions you may ask, including, but not limited to: "why a minivan?"

thanks.

Besides the obvious question, this should have been posted in a different section. Be as it may, keep in mind that minivan suspension and brakes are peculiar to minivans, and what works in a Camaro will not necessarily work in a minivan. You didn't mention what engine you plan to use or how you are going to place it in the minivan, or wether you are building a proper race car with a minivan body.

the '94-97 camaro brakes and the '94-'96 Trans sport brakes are exactly the same. all the parts are direct interchange and share part numbers. this is the section for all questions and topics regarding the '94-'97 camaros? i'm not asking you to tell me how to make my minivan brake system perfect, what i'm asking is for your knowledge of a system that nobody knows more about than you. i want to know what pads and rotors and calipers and other upgrades you guys have had good luck on with your cars, to get a leg up on my research for my project.

to answer your other questions i intend on using the L67. the GM factory supercharged 3.8. i plan on placing it in the vehicle using all the factory motor mounts (it is a bolt in swap) and wiring using a '99 montecarlo SS wiring harness. modifications include trimming the throttle cable braket and adding a second upper motor mount.

modifications will include larger fuel injectors, a water to air intercooler, ported supercharger body, ported heads, 1.9 ratio roller rockers, camshaft, 2.8 supercharger pulley and headers. should be plenty to get 350-400 horse at the flywheel. a good stout rebuild on the tranny and 13's will be well within my grasp. dust a mustang in a camaro it's no big deal. dust it in the minivan and people remember.

in the meantime the van is still a daily driver, and will be for the first few years of it's life. it's getting a mildly worked over L67 first, so i can drive and grin while i build the sick motor. but even at 250 horse, 280 torque it'll scoot the 3400 lb van along just fine.

does that answer your questions?
