Auto transmission question
As I discussed in an earlier thread my transmission is not slipping, but shifting hard and hitting the rev limiter when I smack it rolling at about 20mph as its trying to drop into 1st. I was told by a tech at a local race shop that bolting on headers to the ls1 has caused a few tranny problems so he suggested a bring it to him to have the whole car programmed and dynoed for the life of my z28 for $500.00. Only problem, Im really strapped for cash at the moment. So I purchased a bottle of auto transmission cleaner, condition from Snap. Do you suggest this kind of additive? Any other suggestions for my situation? Thanks - Ryan
i'm not fourth gen man myself but, i can tell you that your farting in the wind with the fix-it-in-a-bottle. take it easy on the tranny. save your money and take it to the man. Sick
I agree with Sick, the fix-in-a-bottle is not going to anything. Sounds like the car needs a tune. Funny thing is that I never ever heard of a set of long tubes affecting how the trans shifts on these cars. I suggest that you post this question over on LS1tech.com ask in the auto trans section and see what they say.
Well a cleaner does work, but the problem is that it destroys the oil so that it flushes out easier. The common problem for putting headers on this car is that the installation process disturbes the wires going to the trans. Or the heat eventually affects it.
well since you mentioned it. if the connection on the lockup solenoid has lost contact it will cause problems like you have described. might be worth your while to crawl under and make sure that connection is plugged in properly. Sick
