RE: Dual Exhaust
oh, ok, i wasnt sure...in that case, im sure you guys have the same BS laws about duals as we do...it really does suck. some guys have even gone so far in PA as to go before the state govt with cars that they have made exhaust systems with true duals, with complete double CAT systems....they proved that it flowed better than stock AND had LOWER emissions..and the crappy PA govt still said no.

"you didnt know what? darkbird?"
in some states, pennsylvania for one, it is illegal to have true dual exhaust if it was not so equipped from the factory. in pennsylvania, it is just plain illegal...some states allow it, but you have to have the same amount of toxic emissions from both pipes, so you often have to install a new CAT and new O2 sensors..so forth...but yet, in quite a few states, true duals, not a dual outlet muffler, is illegal.

RE: Dual Exhaust
oh..i gotcha...its a real pain...
it used to be, so long as you drove your vehicle less than 5000 miles, you got an exemption sticker instead of an emissions sticker. well, the car that i take to the track is trailered everywhere, but it had tags and title, so once in a great while, i would drive it on the street...usually to shut up some mouthy kid in a mustang or ricer. because my car has true duals, and no cats, so it wouldnt pass the emissions test. but now, Just to get the exemption sticker, you have to pass a visual test, which means even if i "made" 2 cats to put on, i would have to convert back to single exhaust...its awful. and with 1 7/8 inch headers into a 3.5 inch collector and 4 inch flowmaster super comp race mufflers, its hard to convert back to stock exhaust...[:@]

RE: Dual Exhaust
Guys in Chicago run true duals all the time, and they are technically illegal here, but they most likley won't do anything to you. I have no cats on my car and it will pass emissions just fine (thank you LS1 Edit). There are always ways around these laws. If you want true duals look into the TSP (Texas Speed) system and have a local shop make you pipes that go under the axel if you do not want dumps. Here is a link to the pics of what I am talking about.
