Custom Air Intake
Alright as you probably know i have an 85 TA, and by the looks of it and from what i hear the intake is very restrictive. So my plan is to get some pipe going from the throttle body rubber connector to the pipe w/ the MAF sensor then off that a little more pipe on to an air filter. What kind of pipe am i looking for? I've seen it refered to as pvc pipe but im not sure if thats whats it called.
Thanks

nice car man, like how you keep it clean, there should be some cheap kits on e-bay with pre-bent tubing, and an air filter for around 30 bucks, will look much nicer than PVC, and it has a nice chrome finish.

PVC, yes. Aluminum or other type of metal. . . Not likely. Look in your phone book for specialty stores that carry metal scrap. They should be able to cut to length anything you want. Fairly cheap too for how little you will need.

RE: Custom Air Intake
I used to be in to working on saturns (back when i got my first car) and there wasn't one single mod out. So every thing came from with in the comunity working to perfect home brew mods. Firs step was the intake.
PVC IS BAD!!! PVC releases chemicals when heated to a certain point and can cause sensor problems and some other stuff i cant remember.
DO buy an intake on e-bay
DON'T use PVC

RE: Custom Air Intake
If you want the performance and the looks, here's an easy but temporary, idea until you decide how cosmetically appealing you want it.
Go to your nearest hardware/bigbox store and get some dryer vent tubing. The stuff that looks like tinfoil or try the flexible sewer pipe stuff. Anyway, figure out where yoo want the CAI (cold air intake) to go and run the needed length of tubing to geet the shape and bends that will work for you. This will also allow you to see if this CAI is really going to benefit your performance before you spend too much money.
If it's to your liking then you can find a pre-made model or have one custom bent for you. The newer Corvettes use some sort of black ribbed ABS (not PVC) plastic for their CAI, so I'm sure you could find something like that somewhere.
