Default speed density to MAF conversion?

i have a 93 z28 with a speed density lt1 and a 700r4 trans. i am in need of a new motor and am in the process of looking this week and hope to have it running asap. but my question is what would i need to change over if i were to put a MAF from 94-97 in my car as far as ECU and wire harness ect. this is my first time swaping a motor so there are quite a few things that stump me. what should i be looking for? stick with Speed density or swap to MAF? and what do i need to change if i do?

thanks
Kyle

You would need a PCM from either a 94 or 95 car, the 96 to 97 are OBDII and use a different front engine cover. You would also need a 94-95 wiring harness, a MAF sensor, all the plumbing for the MAF, and you will still need a MAP sensor. The PCM will have to be reprogrammed to delete the transmission because it is set up with the electronic 4L60e transmission, and will set codes if it does not find one.

the 93 transmission uses some info from the ecu for shifting and converter lock. 93 is one that locks up in 3rd at higher mph. just so you know the lt1 motor itself is the same from 93 to 97 and can be used in your 93. i have a 96 block heads and intake in mine.
