Sluggish hesitating acceleration / idle for 69 350
Hello,
I am new to CF, but need to my 69 back up to snuff:
I have had my Camaro in storage for about seven years. I started it and drove it around the block once or twice a year, but I finally started to drive it more often this year. Anyway, when I drive it, I notice it is very sluggish (and even hesitates) on acceleration. When I am idling in gear, it tends to miss. I am thinking it may be the carb,
The background:
The engine ran like this before and after replacing the Edelbrock with a polished Wieand intake. I replaced the intake because the front and rear gaskets were no longer keeping a seal and wanted to make the engine more presentable.
It is a 350 engine with Pertronix ignition in stock distributor, 650 Holley w/ Vac. Secondary's, MSD coil.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

I would say carb. Is the 650 holley's spreadbore carb, the q-jet replacement? If it is they are VERY picky. I have one on my lemans sport and one day it would run good, next day would **** me off. If its not, then check fuel levels in bowl, timing, put a vaccum gauge on it and see if it stay steady. If still missing after all that...then its gotta be the carb.I would put a 650 double pumper on it if you like holleys if not get a q-jet and contact a guy named cliff ruggles he can modify it to run on your engine.
It is most likely the carb. Check your float level. Holeys that sit for long periods tend to get sticky floats. Saturday afternoon rebuild an easy task and kits are readily available. Even though you drive the car a little more often, it doesn't hurt to keep some 'Stabil' in the tank. Stabil will prevent varnishing.
vtwin,
We can tell you what to do till we are blue in the face but unless we are there its hard to explain. The best advice I can give anyone is to purchase "Super tuning and Modifying Holley Carburetors" by Dave Emanuel. You hear a lot of people call it the Holley Blue Book.
It WILL go through the basic understanding principles of Holleys as well as the advanced stuff. (the first half is understanding how a Holley works and how to do a basic tune.
I first bought that book almost 20 years ago and I still open it up to reference it.
