Default Lost Keys

I lost the only set of keys to my 97 RS Camaro. The dealer wants like 4 to 5 hundered dollars to do this and that because of the VATS Chip on the key. Any suggestions as to what I can do?? Help a brother out.

Thanks in advance

I have heard of people going to the dealer with thier vin and proof of ownership and getting keys made for anywhere from $5-$30.

The dealeris able to order new keys from the factory based on the VIN number, but you need to provide proof of ovwnership. Try a different GM dealer, the one you went to is confused or trying to take your money.

ya go to a gm dealer with proof of ownership... and a idea is once u have the new keys you can wire up another ignition under your dash and put one of the chipped keys in it so u can have spares made for about 5 bucks.. it bypasses having those dumb chips
