Default fuel tank removal

Ive been having some problems with my evap emissions stuff lately, and i want to get it fixed. IT takes forever to fill up with gas, the ses light is on (P0442) and restarting the car warm takes maybe 7 or 8 seconds of cranking time. Would the extended crank time be an effect of the evap stuff?? I dont know really what to do here, i know the canister is on top of the fuel tank, but i dont know how to get there (2000 Firebird 3.8) other than removing the gas tank. Ive heard alot about cutting from the inside to provide quick and easy access in the future, but havent found any concrete evidence this can be done.

Also once the car has started after i let it sit, it sounds like its blowing bubbles, i dont really know how to describe the sound other than that, ill try to get a vid or sound clip up so you guys can hear it, because it only does it for the first 5 minutes or so after that.... Im pretty sure this is all fuel system related, but i want to make sure i can do this myself, cant really afford otherwise at the moment.

awesome thanks, i had planned on just flying by the seat of my pants on this one. I figured a buzzsaw with a metal cutting blade, take that to the raised area under the hatch, have some miscelaneous rubber seals handy, a few hinges, and presto!!! easy access to the top of the fuel tank. I think it will be alittle harder than it sounds, seriously though thanks man.
