Default Fuel Tank

Okay so I'm having to drop the fuel tank so I can put a new fuel pump in. Is there any easier way to do it? I ask this because its staying 100+ outside with the index being 110+ and I have no access to a shop at this point of time. If there is not any easier way to do it, maybe some helpful tips?

You have seen the trap door thread? Trap door makes it a 1 hour project.

There is no easy way to drop the tank. Step one remove rear axle housing, Step two remove exhaust.

While you're dropping the tank, change the fuel pump! You'll be glad you did!

Man, I needed a new fuel pump because the gauge couldn't tell me how much gas I really had and the work cost me a thousand dollars. Real expensive but well worth it.

If you read the below thread you will see in one of the picture a angle grinder with a thin cutting disk. That is what I always use on sheet metal. There is about 3/8-1/2" between the tank and the floor. Read the whole thread cause we talk about the L shape we had to cut. Basicly cut the shape shown but then you will need to cut about a 2 inch wide "slot" that follows the lines till you find the connector.

If that cheap pump you bought is an airtex (or a name like that) there is a 10-15% chance you will have to replace it in the first 30 days. I know I did . That price seems low for a complete unit. I paid $176, autozone and advanced auto wanted $200+ for it.
