My 84 had over 100,000 miles on it and my brother took the motor for his S10 blazer swap. Well an A-hole of a co-worker led to the motor needing to be taken apart and my brother was amazed at how clean it was inside. No carbon, no sludge... And this is not to sell seafoam because I never used the stuff.

I have heard a lot of good things on here about it , from all kind's , so they all can't be selling it. I would use it on my blazer but it seem every time I do something ti fix it other stuff falls apart, so I'll just run it to the ground.

Well the point I was going for is if you take care of your vehicle there is no need for it.

[X(] switching to a synthetic is good at any stage of an engine life, while its more expensive it has much better characteristics than petrol based oils. so is it worth it in older motors thats for you to determine(leaks, burns oil, trying to save a dead horse??) its not recommended for engine break in normally because its not abrasive enough to seat the new surfaces, however after break in its use may extend the life of your engine. as for engine or fuel addatives ive never been a fan of most addatives cause for the most part theyre snake oil. there is NOTHING you can do to remove ALL the crap that builds up in an engine except disassemble and clean. ( this is true for every thing automotive there is just no substitute for a proper cleaning or rebuild) i have used very successfully carb and throttle body cleaners, on and in appropriate parts, and for engines a mix of 1/2 ATF 1/2 engine oil to do a light cleaning and unstick some varnished up lifters. the engine must be run until it warms up and then drain the ATF/OIL mix back out(dont forget to change the oil filter). the reason this works for this application is the atf is highly detergent and aids in cleaning.., if you think about it almost all magic in a bottle stuff is an attempted short cut to a proper and more expensive process, do they hurt anything?? probably not , they tend to take 5-10 dollars or more a whack out of the wallet that could be spent on more worthwhile things kurt
