Default 74 Camaro - Possible Electrical Problem?

Hey guys,
So I have an auto tranny in my camaro LT,
but when i change gears to drive, reverse, etc..
on the dashboard it doesn't show that i'm in a different gear, it indicates Park all the time.

I'm wondering if this is why my reverse lights dont work? I just replaced the bulbs, still not working

Anyone know if this is just a disconnected cable to the dash, or?

And - My MPH when parked shows 5 mph, and while i'm driving, sometimes it doesnt show the right reading (i go 70 it shows 45)
And the other day i was turning into my street slowly, and it showed 40 mph then slowly went down..

Couple problems.. Any ideas?

THe problems are unrelated. Both the speedo and the shift linkage are mechanical. Is the car a floor shift or colum?

Look towards the base of the steering column, inside the engine compartment. Sticking out on the engine side of the column, you should see a big tab with a hole. There should be a linkage bar connected to that, which is connected to your shift linkage. If nothing is on that tab, then that's why your indicator isn't moving.
Your reverse lights is an electrical problem. You have either a switch on your console shifter (if you have one), or a switch on the trans, or your switch could be M.I.A. altogether.

Probably going to need to go shopping at ebay or craigslist for used parts.
Or look at classicindustries.com to see if they carry new.
