Default Electrical Problem

Hi, I have an 02 Camaro with rougly 84,000 miles; I am having an issue with the drivers side power windows and stereo; I went to put the window down and it would not go down, at the same time the radio went out; I am also having an issue with the passanger window, where you can only put it up about an inch at a time, my guess is that it is the motor. I have searched online and some people are saying that it could be either a bad ground, or a bad solder joint in the BCM. Has anyone ever heard of this issue? Thanks

Well if the window is still not rolling down and the radio is black, check your fuses. Other than that, a bad ground could be it, trace your wires all the way back to the battery and see if theres an issue.

What happened was when the radio went out I tried to roll down the window (coincidence), the window would not roll down, then after about 30 sec the radio came back and the window came back to life.

Thanks for the link, it will be very helpful if I have to resolder BCM. Do you know where the ground for that circuit is located? Maybe under the dash?

I was having the same problems and it was the bcm. Re-soldered it and haven't had a problem since.

Aftermarket radio? Sounds like the radio is powered from a line after the window overload. When the window encounters an obstruction, it will trip the overload, stopping the window. It is a thermal overload so it self-resets, hence the radio coming back on after a few secs. Sounds like the window motor is going or the linkages are binding somewhere. I'd pop the door panel off and have a look at it.

No, it's an oem radio; the funny thing is that all the buttons in the middle of the radio's keypad do not light, but the buttons on the right and the left do; I think that is something that might be an issue with the radio itself, not the circuit. You do bring up a good point about the circuit overloading itself, then resetting. I will check the window track and motor. Thanks for that info.
