67 camaro accelarator backwards?
I've just finished rebuilding my carb, adjusted the timing and it runs great when I rev the engine manually from the throttle. However, I've run into a strange problem. When I get in the car and go to start it up the accelerator pedal starts bottomed out and I can't give the car gas. I noticed that when I work the throttle and watch the accelerator pedal, as I open it up the pedal actually come towards the driver not away. I disconnected the throttle arm from the carb to see if it was the way the carb is installed and it wasn't. Can any one shed some light on this.
Thanks

Ok, you have the accelerator rod hooked up to the bottom of the carb linkage. It needs to get moved to the top. Right now, by pushing down on the gas pedal, you are trying to close the throttle, not open it. You need to connect it to that big hole at the top of the throttle arm. But first you'll need to put a collared brass or steel bushing that fits inside that hole. The bushing also needs to have a hole the right size to fit the rod into (you may have to drill it out if you can't find a perfect fit). Then the rod goes in, and a washer on the back side that's big enough to cover the opening on the arm to keep the bushing from popping out, and then the rod keeper. If the rod is sloppy and can pull in and out of the bushing, add more washers to the back side. Or...I can't quite tell from the picture, but is that hole that's just down and to the right of the big hole able to be used for the rod connection? I can't see if you have clearance in back. It would be easier, but you might want to experiment with both. The upper hole will give you more gas pedal movement (you may or may not have that much travel before the pedal bottoms on the floor), and the lower hole will give you less travel.
