1994 Camaro Engine Question
Greetings all! I am new to the forum and have a general engine question. I own a 1994 Camaro, and am having engin problems and am looking for some guidance. It is having a problem with overheating. I have had the radiator replaced, as well as the thermostat...and it still overheats. It is a random thing. I will go for a few days with no prblems then it runs hot. The engine does not seem to visably heat up , and there is no smoke or steam, but the engine temp guage goes up and i get a check guages light. My mechanic is now saying that it is a head gasket problem but i dont know if i should trust that, as i have spent over 2000 already on replacing parts. any help or guidance would be apriciated. You can email me at xspot21@aol.com or post replies here! Thanks in advance!</P>

What kind of oil are you using? I have many customers using AMSOIL synthetics, who are seeing a 5 -15 degree drop in temp. This will help for sure, but you may have another problem. Starting with a good oil can't hurt.

1994 Camaro Engine Question
first of all who the heck is ur mechanic??? if it was a headgasket u could tell from coolant being burned in the combustion chamber, which would make a white smoke commin out of the exaust pipe. do a compression test way before u do any tearing into ur head,, that must labor $$$ would be insane, lol. so im guessing check ur oil delivery, since its only occasionally.

I HATE TO SAY IT BUT HAVE YOU CHECKED THE THERMOSTATE BEFORE YOU PUT IT IN THE CAR, I PURCHASED A THERMOSTATE AND CHECKED IT BEFORE I PUT IT IN THE CAR AND IT WAS BAD. YOU CAN BUY FAULTY THERMOSTATES. YOU CHECK IT IN A PAN OF BOILING WATER... JUST AN IDEA.

RE: 1994 Camaro Engine Question
Hey bro, check the dates of when these threads were started. I dont think this guy still has this problem. In fact I don't even think any of these members are even active any more. Nice archive find though. Something ever stranger, ALL of thier last login times are the same. Maybe this is the twilight zone and I'm the one messed up.
