Default Exhaust cut outs leave capped or uncapped?

I don't know if anybody remembers me from a while back, i see alot of new members of the forums, good to see it growing.Quick question, I have exhaust cut outs right after my headers so i can wake up the neighbors at night if I wish, would running the car uncapped in the quarter mile help out with a litle more qicker times. I also see alot of guys running with out air cleaners in hopes of better times as well (also seen alot of break downs when stuff gets sucked into the carb). What do you all novice racers suggest???

Try the exhaust both ways, & see which is best, each reacts a little different. It's not going to hurt anything except your ear drums. Open intake is not a good idea, at least put on a screen to keep the pebbles and bugs out.

I wouldn't leave the air filter off on my car...

I hear cutouts are better a little farther back in the exhaust as well...

Z28 pete said it best, there is no other smart way of doing it, get a K&N or holley powershot filter.

yes uncap the exhaust, it should definately help, but take it to the track and try it both ways. Also, my car doesnt matter if the air cleaner in on or off. I run an open elemnt K&N.
