Alright, stop, both of you. If this continues, I'm gonna get admin. in here. I'm not in the mood to have people fighting in my thread.

big difference between no compression and low on compression. it wouldnt run with no compression. what would that bike run stock? that doesnt seem that fast for a 6 with 20k in it. my buddies gsxr 1000 is near stock and in the 9s

don't forget, this is a SOHC 1 liter inline 6, with 6 individual carbs, that redlines at 9500 rpm, not the 14k rpm of a GSXR. there's no VTEC or any of that crap. i'd say a 10.77 is a great pass for a bike that old that's not even close to running at full potential.
steve, i absolutely hate you now, you have my dream bike[:@]

Keep in mind it's age. That bike was cutting edge technology when it was new. The problem is in the heads. It's a lot like a hemi head, the pistons look the same. The valves are on angles, and the piston has a massive dome on it. The next year, all the other bike makers stood the valves up, and the motors worked better. This thing is incredible to run what it does. We expect a 9.5 out of it with the new pistons, and we have hopes for high 8's with nitrous. This engine a bottom end that is wildly solid, it can take about as much nitrous as we want to throw at it.
As for the tach, it' limiter is set at 10.5 right now, which is too low for it's powerband. We're gonna step it up to 11.5 or 12.
The 20 grand is mainly in the heads. They have been heavily ported and polished beyond what most people think is possible.
Oh, and it has 4 individual cams, but it's basically a dual overhead cam, not SOHC.
Another reason for the bad time, besides compression is the tire and hub. It has way too much power for that 5.5 inch slick, and it has a cushioned hub in it. We need to have a custom swing arm made to hold a 7 inch or wider slick. Also, it sucks so much air that we have to run without air cleaners, becuase they bog it down, even though they are K&N.
Dad does want to buy a Hayabusa, but we're having a lot of fun making a bike go fast that nobody could make go fast, kinda like that 8.9 second V6 firebird in that other thread. Just like everyone says "sell it and buy a V8", we could go the easy route and sell it and buy a hayabusa. But who likes to do that? We like a challenge.
