hello all!


ok first a little background
on my motorcycle (hyosung gv650)
i can launch fast enough to pull the front end off the ground (not easy on a long low cruiser)

but ive never driven a manual car fast
ive driven some manual ricers
and my 65 mustang is a 3speed manual
but i dont know how to get a fast start
from a light.
to be honest im mostly scared of burning the clutches or just spinning the tires and not going anywhere(done it on my bike b4 and almost wrecked)

btw i've never TRIED to get a fast start i just wanna know the major does and donts

but i did smoke some joker in a honda delsol from a 20 mph roll

Well every time you hold the clutch down to shift, you are burning the clutch.

 

You just have to practice. Go to the local dragstrip. Keep in mind that tires are key to a proper launch. If you have some crappy all-seasons you are going to spin like mad. Drag radials will help you get a hard launch. Practice launch RPMs so you can find where you have minimal wheelspin. Every car is different.

 

yeah, its not something learned over night, and its different for every car. you just gotta find that sweet spot and let her roll
