I need to know what cams you want to run the lift on the ones you listed are more than likly to large for the stock head you need to research and determine what lift they will accept for street usage. Are the corvette heads the L98s? DD duno will only give info as good as you enter it it will not tell you what will work only theoretically what it will produce(if that makes sense). Pick a couple of cams the head number you will use and I can get to it sun or mon. I have to go to a couple of concerts tonight and sat and try to get the car to the track on sunday. We had a cam go out last week causing problems in the engine resulting in a teardown started on it thursday had it back in the car sunday night and after getting all the odds and ends done fired it up last night. We have a vibration that I think is being caused by a newer torque converter that needs to be sorted out. The new cam is a 280 duration .465 lift we will see how it compairs to the 270 magnum..

Ok we have a couple of cams to try a lunati 501A3LUN .492 lift 284 duration and a 54778lun .469/.489 lift 258/268 duration. I made a few assumtions first the piston is a -12cc second the deck clearance is .025 and three the compressed head gasket thickness is.035. The engine compression with the 58cc l98 heads is 9.7:1.
Using this data and using anelevation of 1000 feet the dynamic compression of the 54778 cam is 8.4:1 @ 6500rpm the weighted dcr is 7.6:1 and the effective stroke is 3.1 inches. The duration @ .050 is 206 in and 215 ex. inputing this data into dd dyno the combo is shown to make ....
rpm / hp
2000/178
3000/248
4000/286
5000/263
6000/180
The dynamic compression of the 501 cam is 7.93:1 and 7.14 @6500 rpm, the effective stroke is 2.92". The cam duration at .050 is 218 ex/in. inputing this data into dd dyno results in
rpm / hp
2000/176
3000/254
4000/299
5000/286
6000/207
When you compair the two cams .050 duration the cams appear fairly similar 218/218 vrs 206/215 my concern with the 501 cam would be how your computer and valvetrain would react.

No at the engine it doesnt take into account accessorys either. The L98 heads dont really flow all that well and when I converted your tpi flow to the 1.5 in/hg it was around 720 cfm it didnt seem bad but it along with the head flow hurt your numbers. According to the program you could pick up around 30 hp with vortec heads and a good dual plane manifold but thats another idea all together. What ever you choose make sure the cam is compatable with the heads. I also did a little reading regarding your computer they say it dosnt like long duration cams so I guess you would need to research that a bit also.

how much horsepower do you gain from a mid-sized cam in a 3.8 V6?
