Your dads engine is a LT1 motor. It is not a Vett motor. The Vett version has a 4 bolt mains and aluminum heads along with a different cam these things add up to about 60 HP. The motor that would have come in a 97 Z28 is close to a vett motor but still not the same.

There is a sticky in the 4th gen V6 section called V6-V8 swap. The first part of it is kind of a joke but if you read thru it there is good info in there. You could use the long block from your dads car but that is about it. Nothing I mean nothing from you V6 will fit so you will need every single part for a 97 Z from the headlight to the dash.

LOL about 3 times more then what you could buy a good 97 Z28 for is you paid someone to do it. If you would just read the post we are talking 100's of parts. You will need to buy a doner Z28 with an engine in it because you need all the parts. We are talking the frame, most of the wiring including the dash all the computer stuff trans, just about everything you see when you pop the hood will need replaced. Your 5 speed will not work so if you want to stick with a standard expect to pay about $1500 for a 6 speed

Just curious but why go with a 327 and not a 350
