ok so after i get my crank and pistons i take the motor back to the machine shop and just tell them i want the clearance for the rods and crank? sounds easy enough. I actualy thought the pistons would maybe contact the heads id idn't know there wasn't any top end work. thats awesome haha

why not build a sbc 400 it has the same stroke with larger pistons.

because a 350 would have to be bored to much. the most you can go is .060 over. and thats stretchin it ALOT but your makin the walls real thin. you could go to a 396 with a 3.8xx inch crank bored .030 over but then youll need alot more clearancing.

No, he means to just use a true 400 block, not just the crank from one.

I don't really see any bonuses to it though. More difficult/expensive to build, and then there's the swap. A 383 makes more sense. haha

also 400s werent the best motor with the heads that hav the steam holes and all. your better off goin 383 or 396
