Currently building 305 as well. The L69. I don't plan on stroking it though. Already has pistons and crank from 350, we'll leave it at that. Any input from people on ideas, kits or parts though would be helpull. I plan on buying the same type of cam in the 300 hp 305 article but the heads I'm unsure about and my carb is only a 650CC.

Building a 72 pacer with a 304 is being different. Picking an engine platform that will limit you in the future will be something you will regret.Your going to put all that money in a short block thatshould not see 300 hp. In thelate 80's early 90' I replaced/rebuilt a lot of the 305 TPI iroc's under GM warranty. I can not remember changing one 350 in a camaro. I didrepair a few vets 350's but I do not remember any crate motors or bottom end damage.

I am not saying its a bad engine as designed its just those 250 Hp cars where closer to the limit of what the 305 could handle. I did just as many 2.8/3.1 and even more 2.5 head gaskets at the time. Oh and dont get me startedon those dam2.8 rear mains in the S-10's.

Hey Gorn, not to get off the subject or hijack this thread but I have a 85 S10 2.8 with an oil leak in back that I can't pinpoint. You think it's the rear main seal?

I think the 85's where the worse. GM used to pay 6.5 hours to remove the engine pull the pan, replace the seals get it all back together and test drive it. I got paided 6.5 hours for 10 hour days a few times.
