Exclamation Plastic access panel for fuel tank in trunk ?Myth or Reality

2000 ss Camaro Convertible Plastic Access Panel

It seems that I have a bad fuel pump, I simply refuse to pay a garage $1000. to replace it.

I have been looking at the access cover instructions but then when reading my haynes manual it says " On 2000 or later models , remove the plastic access panel in the trunk and unbolt the fuel filler pipe.

Hello there is no picture and I must be incredibly dumb.Underneath my carpet are a couple pieces of tightly glued down rubber one on the floor and one on the verticle wall in the trunk. I feel like an idiot and do you think I can find one single picture of this thing online.

I believe it is a myth, could someone enlighten me? or i am getting my tinsnips out.

and looking for an alternative to the 480 dollar delphi pump - thats insane.

suggestions. I am new at car repair but mostly I can read and I am game .
Tired of walking everywhere too.

no plastic door. there may be a plastic cover underneath the car on the newer models but not on mine. check this out https://camaroforums.com/forum/4th-g...-method-63702/ its in the faq and how to sticky at the top of the 4th gen seciton.
you have a part number for the pump check here they have reasonable prices for oem parts. RMS Products: GM F-Body, Fuel System
there is also aftermarket pumps for around 100 bucks. check rockauto
