Default Viper alarm system

I have heard there were many issues with the Viper Alarm Systems, and I am finall experiencing my own. Any help would be much appreciated...

So here is what is going on:
For the past month or so (maybe not quite as long), I have been experiencing problems with my alarm. Well, not the alarm, but locking and unlocking it. I used to be able to unlock/lock it from very very far away, and I slowly have been needing to be closer and closer to the car. Then it used to take me about 20 tries to lock it with the remote. Now it doesnt lock or unlock at all, and, obviously, the alarm doesnt work when its unlocked. I have also noticed that the passenger side will sometimes lock on its own.

I have checked the battery (durr), and i have looked around online for a way to reprogram it or something, but i am comming up short. I mean, I know I could flip the switch for the alarm and just lock/unlock it manually... but I would like to figure this out.

Any help is very welcome

Cliff notes:
Viper alarm system = not so good
car wont lock
help? plz?

I dunno if it would work with your model, but this is the best I could find.

"Step 1: Open your car door
Step 2: Put the key in the ignition and turn it to the "Run" position.
Step 3: Push & release the program button (the black button in your car - usually located under dash or driver's kick panel) once and then release.
Step 4: Push & hold the program button in (keep holding).
(Unit -should- chirp once)
Step 5: Press and release a button on your remote (this button will be your arm/disarm button)
Step 6: Release the program button.
Step 7: Press & Release the program button.
Step 8: Press & Hold the program button (do not release).
(unit should chirp twice)
Step 9: Press button2 (or the other button) on your remote.
Step 10: Release program button.
Step 11: Turn key off.
(Unit should emit a long chirp to confirm)"

I found what i needed, it was right infront of me the whole time, i just passed right by it.... But I found the black reprogram button. It took me probably 20 tries, with the alarm blaring... but i finally reprogramed it.

Its pretty sensative, but now it works =)
Thanks for your help!
