I'm building the front from scratch, too. I just have a lot more limitations in the front. I can't use enclosures in the front, I can only go with a 2 way system up front, and nothing off the shelf fits both my needs and my budget.

Why not?

Go buy a polk audio comp set, and buy a cheap zapco amp and you're set if you don't have much money.

Because by building my own sets, I have control over everything that goes into my car. From the tweeters and the midbasses, to the caps, inductors, and L-pads that go into the crossovers. I can fine tune my setup. With an off the shelf solution, I'm stuck with what they give me, which may not be right for my car. Good active crossovers and EQs are expensive. Staying passive and using only simple active units keep costs down and still give me the potential to have a competent sound system.

Heres a good place to find some stuff if you want to piece together your own front stage.

"Duly noted" means "correctly or appropriately recorded."

The Acoustic-visions.com link isn't working. I tried a couple variations and got nothing.

And yes for the most part these are designed for home audio use. But it's a great place to all the separate pieces you want, crossovers, woofers, mids, full ranges, silk tweeter, all kinds of goodies.

I find it interesteing that two of the 3 brands over there are Dayton Audio (Parts Express) and Adire.

And wow, a single missing "i" is what kept me from seeing that. I'm usually the one to catch that stuff. Thanks for fixing the link!
