Default Speedomoter/RPM trouble

Hey...I'm brand new to this forum, and brand knew to owning a camaro. The speedomoter isn't working at all on my car, and the rpm's are supposedly about 1000 rpm's higher than the car actually is running at. I was wondering what steps I should take to fix these issues.
Thanks alot for your help. I'm brand new to working on cars, so please bare with me if some of my questions are lame. Thanks for the help.

Chris

No they are not lame. Because I can't answer them. So, speedo says trans sensor or something on the transmission is off at the tail end of the final output shaft. So, that is signal 1 say. Next is the dash cluster. Next is the CAN Communication to run wireless as no cables to turn the tach or speedo but an electrical pulse.
Simple stuff first is see if the sensor is putting out. Then it's wire to back of dash pod. Then yank the cluster out is send it out for inspection.

It it is cable driven. Again, look at the tail or where a cable is used. See if it is sheered off or does not spin at the speedo side.

For the speedo, check at the tranny and the gauges, should be cable driven so it's either broke or disconnected.

thanks for the advice...will do tomorrow. Also, my fuel gauge. It would usually take a little bit for it to settle in at the proper level. But I think as of recently now it just stays saying its full. I'm going to mess around and try to figure it out, but figured I'd throw this into the mix of questions as well. Thanks for bearing with me guys....I'm a newb hah

Does your gas gauge move at all? These chevy gas gauges are not that accurate or steedy! Mine moves all over the place!

you know what...it does move...what it used to do was take like 10 minutes to settle in ya know...and move around a bit but i had a good idea of where i was at. But lately its been stayin on full. I know the tank isn't full so I'm going to go fill it up this week....then see how she reacts while driving again. I just saw these sweet engines...the Year One Motors. I need like 5 grand to drop haha. I wana beast this thing out.
