Suddenly the windshield wipers on my 98 Camaro (V-6 3800 Series II) stop in the upright position when turned off. After turning the lever to the "off" position the wipers move through one additional cycle, but then instead of tucking down into the off position, they move back up and stop across the windshield. Any thoughts about how to fix this? Thanks for any suggestions!

 

I was having this problem, and my mechanic said he could just adjust my wiper motor, but then he listened to it and said that because it was really scraping hard and making so much noise,(cause it was dragging), that there was a little part inside that had broken, and would have to be replaced. The part is not expensive but you have to take the whole thing apart, so the labor will be the big thing, unless you can do it yourself. This would probably explain why I was going thru so many wiper blades. Hope this helps.

 

Thanks a bunch for your information. I thought it might be the wipers motor but had never this happen before. I'll get it checked.
