V6 power loss, light on
Ok all, im asking this on behalf of a friend who drives a 98 V6.
The car recently had the dash light come on and a noticable reduction in power, also has a bit of trouble starting in the morning after a damp night or if it has been left for a week or so. But this could just be a weak battery.
Many way, WE CANNOT get it scanned, we live in the UK and the nearest place is 150miles away. How can we get the codes or find out what it is without having to replace all the o2 sensors, spark plugs, temp sensors, wires etc as it could get expensive. The car is OBDII i believe
thanks

best advice is order a scanner.... cheap ones are about 60 bucks ... without one you cant pull codes ... reduction in power can you elaborate??? misfire just no go
sounds like a performance isue would try basic tune up but without being in the car and no codes all we can do is guess

for some reason this double posted so most foaks answed in the other one, but ill reply herre to you too.
Thanks for the reply, you know a reputable seller for scanners?? I do all of the work on my car myself but my friend doesnt, I cant do it cause they are a 4 hour drive from me so im just trying to relay the info they asked me. As far as im aware its a loss in power. I suggested to check wire, change plugs and o2 sensors but i dont want them to send a load of cash fixing/replacing stuff that s essentially fine trying to chase it

You really need to get a good scanner before you waste a lot of time & money. The code(s) will give you some good hints, then repost the code(s) here. Try eBay for a good price, or Amazon.
Check out the Autoxray EZ-Scan 6000 (I own it), or the newer TechScan 7000:

Or, if all you care about is OBD 2 (1996 & newer), go for an iPhone/iPod Touch solution:

Check with friends/family -- maybe someone you know has a scanner you can borrow...
