Default transmission leak

i have a 98 camaro v6 5 speed and it is leaking tranny fluid from the rear seal where the drive shaft slides into. i replace the seal and it is still leaking. i was told that the bushing in the transmission was bad and have to change it. how hard would this be

It might be a groove wore into the part of the yoke that slides into the transmission. I repair this with what is called a speedy sleeve. It is a thin piece of stainless steel tube that slides over the grooved area to repair it.Images for speedi sleeve

Were you told a worn tail shaft bushing might be the cause of the leak, or has it been looked at and determined the bushing is in fact bad? If the bushing is very sloppy, it will let the yoke move around, opening up a gap between it and the seal, causing a leak. Unless you have the right type of puller to remove the bushing with the tail shaft housing in place, you'll need to remove the housing. How hard is it? Not very, depending on your skill level. You've removed the driveshaft before, so you were part way there.

Make sure and check for the groove I was posting about. Chances are if the bushing in the tail of the transmission is bad other things could be worn. It could be the double whammy, fix the bushing and it still leaks because of the worn input shaft or the other way around.
