I have just recently purchased my first Camaro. A 1996 RS. This care needs considerable body work, but seems mechanically sound other than some transmission concerns. It has 114K and I'm uncertain as to the maintanence that has been performed. The automatic trans wants to stick in 2nd and you have to ease off to get it to shift into 3rd. General slow shifting even in other gears and a slight jerk at takeoff at times. Does this most likely need a complete rebuild? Bands? start with a fluid & filter change? just looking for some advice on the best way to proceed.
