tps sensor
i have a 97 3.8 caMARO with a brand new tps sensor that i put in and it was at 0.5 volts on my autotap but the angle says its like 10-12% open how do i fix this stupid thing?
The sensor may not be positioned right, or the throttle valve stop has been messed with. Loosen the mounting screws on the sensor & move it a little, or try to adjust the throttle valve stop screw.
what and where exactly is this throttle valve stop and throttle valve stop screw because when i put the 2 screws back in the throttle position angle was at like 10.2 and if i wiggled it it maybe went up to 10.6. i got it once to be at like 4.2 and when i wiggled it it went to like 3.8. idk if im not doing it right or what i mean i turned the key to run looked at the laptop watched till i turned the sensor till it was 0.5 then put the screws in tightend it down and trust me i made sure i didnt move it while i was screwing it tight. so i dont know. do you think i need to take off the air intake and look at the butterfly valve to see if it is completley closed or what? please help
Throttle valve stop location... Find the lever/assembly to which the throttle cable connects to. It's on the driver's side of the throttle body. Inspect it closely, and you will see that the lever/assembly when not moving, rests ona tiny piece of screw threaded through a nut.Aside from what you read on your laptop, does anything else seem abnormal? For example, it revs higher than normal.
ic i just call that the throttlebody stop screw ne ways yea thats fine i just want to know why when i put the sensor on it the throttle position angle has to start moving around.
You can have the sensor in hand, and as long as it's plugged up, you can make the computer think the throttle is wide open. Take the sensor off, leave it plugged in, and take your data. See if it still says it's cracked open.
so basically u want me to push the sensor till it reads 0.5 and n ot even have it in the TB because i did that and when i get to about 0.3 0.4 volts the TP angle starts to go up again and this is with it not even in the TB. i am just completley mind blown on how this wont work for me and i dont feel like going to the dealership and paying 150 bucks for them to "look at it" or however much it is. im gonna start today by just taking off the intake housing and actually look if the tb is closed or what. so ill post back in around an hour.
alright well i took it off before i even tried starting my car and it was closed so i started it for the first time since yesterday and the battery was dead so i jumped it and when i started it it ran fine again. it must have been because i put the sensor in right then the computer got reset because the battery died and i guess thats what fixed it now it reads fine other than sometimes at idle itll jump up from 0% to 0.4% and that to me isnt a big deal because this aint my Z. thanks for the help
