Tell me about those Hurst shifters
Im wondering about those Hurst short throw shifters. Are there many advantages to em? Is the only thing they provide is a short throw? They seem pricy to me so i thought id ask you guys that had em and maybe you could tell me about em...installation, benefits...whatever you would like to share. Thanks
Installation is a freaking breeze, other than that, I love it. It is a substantially shorter throw, and has a more solid feel to it. That, and the return springs are a little stiffer, so you actually feel like your shifting, not just shaking a stick in your tranny. Only problem I had with the install was after I got it all on, which was the easy part, putting the boot that keeps the weather out of the car on didnt go so well, the Hurst stick is shaped just a little bit differently than the factory one. I just threw some RTV in it and called it a day.
I love mine. The stops are really nice too, you can really slam the gears and not worry about hurting the transmission. Most of the other shifters don't have adjustable stops. I'm going to shorten mine up some more really soon, either going to modify the stick, or get a lou's short stick for it.
