Most of them flash the codes on the dash, that sounds built in to me.

once u get to 94s odb 1.5 u need a scanner. actually in the camaro the 93 is the only one that flashes the codes. well threre may be a few 94s that do also. i believe the problem that caused the ses light to come on will need to happen 3 times before it will store a code. also on the 98 u should be able to scann the car while its running also. helps alot.

Yeah, your 100% right on with the OBD 1.5 in 94. Some early '94s flash the codes, but mine does not. As for your situation, just figure out the code number and post it here and you'll get some help.

my SES light comes on often, and i've had it scanned several times by auto zone and they haven't found anything wrong with the engine. Granted it was rebuild so it may just need to be reset.

I've also heard that while traveling in over-drive, when you let off the gas and reduce your speed below 65, the SES light will also pop on.

If you're saying that you've "heard that" as being normal, NO IT'S NOT!
The SES light should not go on, unless something is wrong.

damn check engine lights, they should be more sophisticated, and tell us exactly what is wrong. is that to much to ask for?

Interesting that you mentioned that. My daily driver, a 2002 Chrysler 300M has that feature built in. All one needs to do, is to turn the ignition key ON, OFF, ON, OFF, ON and the trouble code is displayed in place of the mileage on the odometer.
