Default Rear defrogger doesn't work......

My rear defrogger doesn't work, the orange light doesn't turn on. Is there a fuse or something or is there anyway to fix this? Winter is coming soon

Do you have a lot of problems with frogs on the rear window in your area? I don't think the defrogger option was available in Pennsylvania.

Your 99 is like my 94 in that it has a separate defroster switch ahead of your right knee. That switch includes the defroster timer. Power comes from a 30A circuit breaker in the dash fuse panel.
The first thing I'd look at is the connections at the rear glass. If one has become disconnected or is damaged the defroster won't work.

Ha yea I'll just hot box my Maro alot more now But seriously this is lame lol, but not too mad cuz I just put on a set of chrome stock wheels with new tires that I copped from craigslist for a real good price, my original stocks were aluminum and tires were all shot up and I put my 19s away for next spring but I might just keep the chromes and sell my 19s cuz their too raw.

OK... the 99 has a button under the fan control that is also the timer for the defrost. That goes to a wiring harness that heads down the driver's side of the car then up the "B" piller to the roof just in front of the rear interior light. There is a plug there that connects it to the wiring to the rear hatch which goes to the lines on the glass. Just check out everything and if all the wiring look good and the lines in the glass are not messed up then replace the switch.

I did some research on this subject after realizing that my Haynes Manual had very little info on the defroster. Since i was looking up info on my 94 I did the same for a 99.

For a 99:

a 30A circuit breaker in the dash fuse box handles the heavy juice needed to heat the rear glass. The same cb handles power seat function if your car has that. So if the power seat doesn't work, the defroster won't either.

fuse #6 (20A) in the dash fuse box provides power for the circuit logic (on/off/timer). Fuse 6 is called the HVAC fuse so i guess it does other things too. You'd probably notice if it was blown.

I sketched the circuit. Print it. If you don't like electrical diagnosis show it to someone who does and it should be all they need.

What i don't quite understand is that my source info shows that the timer/relay and the on/off switch are both replaceable parts. I'm not sure how that works since both are part of the dash HVAC control panel.

My brain hurts by reading all that lol. But I'll prolly have someone I know look at it, really don't want to go to a shop for this. And no, I do not have power seats. And this morning was real cold and fogged my whole car so for the rear windshield I had to use my tshirt to wipe it down

The switch and timer are the same unit and they come off the back of the HVAC control panel. I know this since I have replaced it before when working for GM.
