My 3800 sounds like a vacuum cleaner. HELP!

Default My 3800 sounds like a vacuum cleaner. HELP!

My 3800 sputters and wont go above 2000 rpms and it sounds like a vacuum. It gradually lost power and sounding bad through a three day period. Can anybody help me on this one?

Make sure your intake is connected to the throttle body. No holes in the fixture and also make sure you have no loose bolts on the intake anywhere.

Or your cat converter could be restricted.

Thanks Massey, I checked the intake and vacuum lines and everything was ok. I went to the tail pipes and found no exhaust coming out. Camaro 69 you hit it on the nose. Everything to the cat is hot and everything after is cold as ice. Thanks a million guys. It's time to go to work.

If you go with the gutted cat route you will need to trick your computer into thinking it still has one or have the 3rd o2 sensor tuned out of your computer. Most shops that can tune will not untune the sensor. Getting a high flow cat will not hurt performance and will save you from headaches with emissions and CELs GLad you found the problem.
