Rear bearing hangers?
My brother just bought a 93 camaro with the 3.4L. It needs some work but still a nice car. I have only heard about what it needs from my father and brother so I really don't know what the part is called but I was told it was rear wheel bearing hangers but I just heard that the only way to get this piece from chevy is to buy a new driveshaft. I really wish I could be more specific. Anyone ever hear this and what would come with a new driveshaft from factory?
The car has a 2 piece driveshaft, that has a center support bearing. When the driveshaft goes bad, most guys toss the shaft and replace it with a one piece driveshaft. You can use one out of a 4th gen V8 f-body, later 3.8 V6 model, or from a 3rd gen (700R4 trans vintage and up).
aka carrier bearing. you cannot get them for a 93-02 camaro without buying the whole two piece drive shaft. as 69 says you can use a one piece drive shaft from any 4th gen z28 or ls camaro so call around your local wrecking yards and see if anyone has a used one. try for a aluminum one but steel will work.
