Recently I noticed that sometimes when getting out of my driveway or making very slow turns (almost stopped) that there is kind of a rubbing sound that only happens when turning the steering wheel. I've noticed that it does this specifically when turning left. This problem never happens at higher speeds. I checked my power steering fluid level and it is right on and very clean. Anyone know whats making this rubbing sound?

 

Have you gotten new tires recently? When I got new tires on my Mounty, it did what you describe for a little bit.

 

Actually I need to replace my two front tires. Its strange because I drove it around a little this morning trying to get it to make the sound and it didn't do it.

 

I've only noticed sounds from my camaro (when it comes to steering) is when i turn the wheel too much.

 

Come to think of it, the rubbing I'm getting happens when I turn the wheel a bit too (it pretty much only happens right before turning all the way to the left) Earlier I said it didn't happen this morning, but just this evening it REALLY rubbed coming out of a parking space.

 

Hey! My 02 does the same thing. I realized it does it at a dead stop, only when turning left. It causes a shudder to run through the car as well. I have yet to start to look into it though. I'll let ya know what I find!
