Pop and grind!
So I have an issue that I THOUGHT was the wheels hubs, only to later find out, the rear wheel hub isnt removable from the axel. And if that had a problem, well, I dont think Id be going anywhere. When I drive normally, there is no noise. When I hit the gas too hard, there is a loud POP and sometimes it faintly sounds like it grinds a little after. A friend said it might be the that the diff has a broken tooth. But it will also do it if i have too much weight in the back and I go over a big bump. So that leads me to think suspension. But suspension is the one thing I actually don't know anything about. So what would this possibly be and what should I look for when Im under the car or how to test for whats wrong?
it really sounds like it is coming from the passenger side rear wheel. Or somewhere to the right and behind me at least. I figured it might have been the spring back there. My springs are so soft I can literally push the car down with my finger. So I was wondering since they are mounted on a bit of an angle, if Im just over compressing them to the point that one coil pops over another. I cant exactly get out to see that while driving though. lol
168k miles. It has newer shocks in the back. The tranny mount is what I was told to check next, and that makes a lot of sense. The griniding I hear, is probably actually the vibration of the tranny against the tunnel.
