Hmmmm it could be a collapsed lifter or a rocker arm.

Well it must not be lifters or rockers then.

Are you still thinking the noise is coming from the back of the car? If you're not sure, another possibility is a noisy (bad) fuel injector. Take a section of heater hose to use as a stethoscope and prod around.

Ill do that but outside the car with the hood open I can hear the injectors firing but doesn't sound like the tick and is not as loud. I have another issue that needs answering, at idle the engine seems to shake or vibrate more than it should. It started doing this after I took it out of storage in dec. to drive because my explorers engine blew. It was in storage for about a month, the room was not heated and it got very cold (near below zero on some days). The engine only seems to vibrate a lot after the engine warms up. These engines are suppose to be trouble free and reliable but Ive only been having problems, even with 45,000 miles on the engine.

Sitting can be very hard on a motor. Low miles is nice but time is a killer on many parts like plug wires and harnesses.
Vibration at idle can be cause by many things. Just about anything that effect spark or air fuel ratio can cause a vibration.

well the plug wires are only a year old and are msd 8.5mm. And about the ticking, I just got back from driving it and can hear the ticking from inside the car, but not from under the hood. And about the vibration I put my hand on the top of the intake manifold and didn't notice much vibrating, or at least any more than normal. So, how can I figure out the vibrating at idle?
