If I do it myself I'll probably f*** it up worse than it already is. I have a guy that I think will do it for $200 or $250+parts ($350-$400 all together). Also I can't work on my car where I live. My landlord will throw a fit because it makes the neighborhood look "trashy". Yes I know, what a d***! lol Otherwise I would try and tackle it

Yeah it sucks. It'll be fixed in two weeks tho. I went from paying almost $700 to paying $350. I'm glad I know alot of mechanics lol. He's going to do the water pump, timing chain, timing gasket set, and thermostat.

And to everyone who replied to this thread, thanks! Sometimes no one replies for a while on these. So thanks for all the input guys. I'll post as the project progresses and let you all know how it's coming along.

Oh and did I mention that all this crap happened right after I bought brand new tires and put a new dual exhaust on my car. Lesson learned (set money aside for repairs and not just mods and upgrades)

You have a guy to do it. Is he a mechanic at a shop, or someone where you could help along, or at least learn what he's doing?
Paying him to do the job (which is very reasonable btw) would be money well spent if you got something educational out of it.

He has a little "hole in the wall" shop. And yes I will be there so I know how to get into something like this next time. I'll be helping with it. He's been a mechanic at numerous local shops for the last 15 years and he doesn't like how the shops charge so much so he opened his own garage and he's done all the work on my car since I've got it. He only charges half of what any shop in the area quotes me. And he does stuff the right way

I'm glad to see you're getting it fixed.
