Default My Camaro is dead! :(

So today my car started pouring antifreeze out the bottom of it. ALOT of antifreeze. I limped it to the shop and they told me the timing cover gasket is blown out. Also the water pump has a crack in it... All in all it will cost $650 to fix it. They charged me $20 to tell me I was gonna spend $650 to fix it. Lovely
Here's what happened earlier...

Is it worth putting the money into? Or should I sell it? Or?

PLEASE!! LOL I put $1000 into a 93 escort WAGON to replace a motor, and $1400 for a 95 Subaru Legacy WAGON! This is the time before I learned to do things myself,or was pregnant and couldn't.You have an AMAZING car!!!

The idea of selling it because it only needs $650 worth of work is just crazy! Then you'll have to go through the process of getting another vehicle and putting unexpected money into that! Times may be tough, but would still be worth it to fix up your camaro.

Sure, the car looks like it is in good shape -- how many miles?

That depends, Did it over heat? How much do you trust these guys that looked at your car? A cracked water pump? You have any idea how rare that is? The combination of issues makes it sounds like it overheated bad. If the car overheat bad you could have a lot of other problems after you fix these issues.

If you sell it in its current condition you are not going to get much for it. If a car can not be test driven most of us will assume it needs an engine and a transmission. Even if it could be test driven cars that need major work do not sell well.

If you sell it like it is, you're going to lose more than $650 in the value of the car, and it's gonna be harder to sell like that. I know it's tough, but it would be foolish not to fix it.

Did you personally see where the leak is coming from, or are you just taking the word of the people that gave you the estimate? Could just be a bad hose or freeze plug. I have yet to see a water pump that cracked, and gaskets do not usually fail all at once.

I didn't see the water pump. But my neighbor is a mechanic and has always treated me awesome with stuff like this. He said the water pump was about gone. And the mechanic up the road jacked it up and pressure tested it and the timing cover gasket is blown out. I saw that for sure. The bottom part of the gasket was hanging out of where its supposed to be. I have antifreeze coming outa there like Niagara Falls. So this is the verdict. I bought the car for $1250 with 175xxx on it. Replaced the AC compressor, Blower motor, Wheel bearings, plugs and plug wires, radiator fan motor, temp sensor, thermostat, starter, and now this happens. The car now has 178xxx. Its ran like a champ since I bought it up until now.
