I'm glad someone else agrees with me on the Mustang thing..... But along with them is the Ricer Ceral box toys......... They annoy the crap out of me..... How they always say "don't you hate it when a 4 banger beats a muscle car?!!!" thats only b/c the POS has every mod they could stick under the hood while the muscle car is stock the whole way..... I hate that..... GRRRR

Ok so I'm more than likely just goin to start at the bottom and get suspension and all that good stuff and then the motor last... and put it all in at once..... or as I get it..... So in y'all opinion what is the best aftermarket suspension and all that good stuff... Along with all the other aftermarket products to upgrade my Camaro?

Would this be ok for Suspension? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Energ...spagenameZWD1V

What is the HP difference of the LT1 vs. the LS1 (Stock, no added mods)?

Oh and by the looks of that chart... I might as well just by me a different car if I want the LS1....
Ok I only read up to this point so I will put what I know if anyone else put sorry for restating.

From my understanding The LT1 engine started at 275 until 95' which it increased to 285 and during which that year it had traction control.

The LS1 started during 98' Camaro SS which was the engine of the Corvette in the eariler models of the Camaro it did start with 305 but it got up to the 330 mark.

A big difference of the two is not only the power but the weight the LT1 has cast iron while the LS1 has aluminum.

For a swap from what I know is that you would not only need the change of your disc brakes since it is a 95' and not 98' or younger where all models came with disc on all 4. Also the transmission ofcourse on top of reinforced axel for extra power and do differentals. Your computer is going to need to moded to fit your new engine over your old so as you don't get bad compression as well as missfires. In the end what I been told by a friend the cost of a swap is between 4-5 thousand.

My thinking is that you could just upgrade to the 3.8L v6 instead and make it a good runner you can get better take off and take a v8 in the 1/4 mile. My friend has a 98' Camaro and takes on v8 offen they think he has a v8 under the hood and he just grins and likes the look on their face when they find out they get beat by a v6.

Oh, and your computer has nothing to do with the compression...

ls1 ratings for the fbodies were reduced in order to promote corvette sales. it would be pretty difficult to change the motor up to lose 50hp with just a little tuning and a manifold without making the motor run like crap. all ls1 fbodies had 350hp with slight variations.

my car, a 98, made 331rwhp with a borla ypipe and catback, and an slp lid. same day my buddys LT4 made 291rwhp, and another buddy's stock mach1 made 265rwhp.

as far as the 3.8, they can be made pretty fast...... but even just modding a stock 3.8 is NOT a good financial move if were talking budget builds. you will spend more money trying to beat the v8 than you would if you had just traded in on one in the beginning........ then add the cost of a swap on TOP of that..... [:'(]
stock for stock, the 3.8 is about 140hp shy of the ls1, and about 60 shy of the lt1 (210 for the 3.8 right?). thats alot to make up. a full bolton 3.8 will typically run mid-high 14s with an lsd and will make around 210rwhp, or 250bhp, but still wont have the torque of a v8.

so, we have the swap - 2k 3.4 to 3.8 about
then the cost of boltons which arent cheap for v6s. 1k
lsd, not sure what it costs, but i know its a few hundred for a v8 rear
then we can spray it to make up the additional hp. dont want much over a 100 shot either 500-1k

so now we have a car that can beat most stock lt1's and is on par with most stock ls1s, and it cost over 4k in mods alone, plus the cost of the original car.....

when lt1's are going for around and under 4k to begin with this doesnt make any sense. then you can spend all this money, and have any of the v8 guys drop a couple hundred on some headers and its game over again. we go through this all the time, just because the cars CAN be fast, doesnt mean that its easy or cheap.

It really is never easy or cheap to make a car faster. And droping a v8 as others stated before is an unwise move since as you pointed out you can get a z28 for 4-5 thousand which would be around if not a little more for swaping the v6 for v8.

Also sorry about the compression mistake.
