hey help with intake

Default hey help with intake

hey for my 2000 i have been looking at performance intakes and there preaty expensive. i was wondering can you rig it yourself so it would do the same thing for less money

yes you can always rig something but it wont look as nice.

but yeah, if i were you i would try that out.. Surely beats spending a couple hundred on a new lid.

The DIY smooth air lid and a K&N air filter is the way to go. I did it on my 00' 3.8. Savesyou about$100 from having to buy an aftermarket smooth airlid.

have you done the cold air thing? Where you cut the part under the filter? Just wondering if the smooth lid and that make a noticable difference.. Too bad i cant do it though..

I haven't heard about cutting out the area below the air filter. I don't think I would want to do that though. Letting more cold air in helps the engine "breathe" better and should increase HP, but I have noticed only a slight difference.
