Like i said it could be a number of things. But everything you have said sounds just like a failing coil. Plug wires first, if it get a little better you can get a spark tester to test to see which coil is failing. I would bet by the end of next year you will have replaced all the coils.

swapping coilpacks is easy

 

and wires are cake as well. Just make sure to know where the wires go

 

i am having a similar problem with my 99 v6 5 speed. sometimes when i accelerate it hesitates and the check engine soon light is on but i thought that it could be beace i have no cat. what could it be sence the light is on?

 

first thing is to pull the engine codes, it will give you a pretty good idea where to start. autozone does it for free if you have one nearby.
