i have an 88 iroc-z with the 5.7 litre tune port injection. i just recently obtained it in a trade. it has sat for the past year. motor is super clean. when i start it up sometimes it idles at 500 rpms or lower. ill drive it and it runs great but if i am sitting at a stop and try to put the gas petal to the floor it falls on its face for a second then takes off. any ideas?? the check engine light comes and goes. some one said maybe a leaky injector???

 

I had a similar issue when I mashed the pedal it almost stalled out then rev'd right up. Mine issue was fuel filter. After I changed that out it started to react much better.

 

do the basic things first. first, put good fuel in it. then check out the spark plugs and wires, and replace if they look old. check the timing with a timing light and set it if needed. also check the air filter and replace if needed, and get a can of mass air flow sensor cleaner and clean the maf
