Thanks a lot. I appreciate the help. As far as installation goes it should be as simple as disconnecting the old hoses and hooking up the new ones, right?

So I'm going to go ahead and try to flush the radiator today. Any advice, tips, or warnings? I can use all the help that I can get.

flush the radiator and heater core separately. unhook both hoses to each, run water through till clear. garden hose should hook right up to the heater hose. dont use alot of pressure on it, cooling system is not made to handle the pressure you have in your water system so if it cloggs theres a chance you could blow a seam in the core. radiator has big hoses so just run the water through, not much of a chance of building up pressure in it.

So to flush the heater core i just need to unhook the hose that popped off earlier and then unhook the one below it and run water with little pressure through the piece that they hook into, which is the heater core right? so the water should go in through where one of the hoses connects and then out of the place where the other connects. sorry for the stupid questions, but i've never done this before. thanks for the advice though!

yes if thats the heater core hose. some years have a one way valve on the heater hose, at least thats what i have read so if it seems plugged try running it the other direction. oh and dont mix the orange antifeeze with the green stuff. turns to jello kinda goop.

Alright, is it best to refill with the dex-cool or use a different type after everything is flushed? From what I've gathered the dex-cool is better to prevent from having to flush everything out so often.

Well everything is flushed out now I have to wait to get some of the cleaner to run through it for a bit. Then I'm going to refill it with dex-cool. How much will I need. Just one jug or more that one jug? I'm not sure on what is needed to completely fill everything back up.

depends on if your using pre mixed or straight antifreeze. the 3.4 takes a little over three gallons (12.3 qts) total, lt1 takes 15.3. if you flushed the motor as well as the core and radiator then you would assume the motor is full of water only, so dump the gal and a half in and add water till she is about full, the idea being to reach a 50/50 split of antifreeze and water.

I'll dump in straight antifreeze. so I would think that I will need about1.5-2 gallons of straight antifreeze. do you recommend putting the cleaner in first or go just go ahead and put the antifreeze, since I've flushed it out nicely?
